christmas hamper project
Here at Claremont First Step Community Centre, we got off to a fantastic start for our Christmas Hamper Project which started in October. The project was delivered by our hardworking Claremont Ten Steering Group. The goal of the project was to collect as much food and Christmas goodies as we could from generous donations within the community, and then distribute these as Hampers to residents within the Claremont community.
We started off by having consecutive meetings so everyone could bring forward their ideas, then we started collecting via our lovely Monday and Friday club members. The items we were asking for were Tinned goods, Non perishable food, Christmas goodies and Toys in original wrapping. The response we got was amazing and was far more successful than we could have ever imagined, we cant thank you all enough!
thank you to the following…
A massive thank you also goes out to Alison Gilmour and all of her staff at the Imperial Hotel in Blackpool. They donated a variety of toys for our Christmas Hampers which were then donated to local families within the Claremont Ward, making Christmas even more special for everyone!
We would also like to thank Tony and Jim who made a great start at Poundland collecting for the Project, as well as a big thank you to Stuart, the manager at Poundland in Blackpool and his staff for allowing us to collect at their store!
Furthermore we would like to thank Debbie Thorn and the staff at Champion Accountants Blackpool as well as Val, everyone at the Spiritualist Church and the North Shore Methodist Church members for their generous donations of toys, Christmas goodies and more!
And not forgetting Claremont First Step Community Centre Monday and Friday members and Counsillor Ivan Taylor for their generous donations!
Also we would like to thank Phil, Tony, Jim, Dianna, Kim, Peter, Leanne and Bob for their time and effort with this project, from collecting boxes, decorating them, sorting out the donations and going out and about Blackpool with collection tins even in terrible weather!
Finally a huge thank you to Jo Shepard, Johann Adams, Cathy Adams,Jo Baker and our wonderful volunteers at Claremont First Step Community Centre for their tremendous time and effort in helping make our first ever project a huge success with our Steering Group from Claremont Ten!
The residents whom we were planning to deliver the hampers to had no idea that they were receiving anything. This made it extra special when we arrived at their doors with hampers and toys that really brightened up their Christmas and got it off to a perfect start. They were all very delighted and grateful to receive these gifts and the smiles on their faces made it all worth it!
look out for us in 2016…
That concludes the Christmas Hamper Project 2015/2016 by Claremont Ten Steering Group. The project was a huge success, everyone worked hard and had a lot of fun along the way. We look forward to 2016 and we hope to complete many similar projects helping Claremont Residents help themselves, together we can make a difference!
